Cecil Johnson took early retirement after serving as a secondary school teacher for forty years, twenty-five of which as Headmaster of a Comprehensive School. He also served as a Member of the District Council for nine years. Co-author of four French school books and author of an amusing look at pit village life, The Sum of Two Squares, he lives on his farm in County Durham. Apart from his farming activities, his interests include music and landscape painting. He also plays an active part in promoting the interests of Clan Johnstone, holding the position of U.K. Commissioner to the Chief.
